The Official Site of the Washington Nationals

It’s springtime (almost summer), and the sound of baseball is in the air. The crack of bats, the calls of “Strike three”, the smell of hot dogs and fresh roasted peanuts (unless you’re at Safeco Field in Seattle, where garlic fries permeate the air). Since the season is in full swing, I thought it would be a great idea to visit a Major League Site and see how baseball is using the Internet to bring the fun and excitement of the game to everyone with a computer. The dilemma is trying to decide which team to feature. Since I am an unashamed Yankee fan, I thought about using them. But since baseball is a national game, I thought using the site of the Nationals would be an appropriate site. They are the newest team in the league, and they are off to a pretty good start.

The site is called The Official Site of the Washington Nationals. Here you can follow all the activities of the team, the trades, the box scores from every game, all sorts of items. What makes the baseball sites so interesting the design is identical for each of the MLB teams. Of course the logos and colors reflect the team, but each site has the rosters in the same locations, the scores in the same locations, etc.
One of the nice features is the ability to follow the games live as they happen. There are three ways to do this, two of which cost, one which is free. You can watch the game in streaming video, or listen to it with streaming audio. You can also follow the game with real time updates using Gameday, a visual display that updates with each pitch. So you can follow the game from the comfort of your computer.
So if you want to follow your favorite MLB team, this is the place to do it. The Washington Nationals have brought our national sport back to the nation’s capitol, so a visit to this site will show you all of that excitement. So it’s batter up and let’s play ball!
